Environmental Permitting for Swainton – Corson Transmission Line, NJ

Sovereign assisted Atlantic City Electric (ACE) with environmental licensing and permitting activities associated with the rebuild of a 4.1mile long 69 kV electric transmission line extending from the Swainton substation in Middle Township, NJ to the Corson Tap which is located southwest of the intersection of Shore Road (U.S. Route 9) and Sea Isle Boulevard in Dennis Township, NJ.  Services performed by Sovereign include, conducting wetland delineation and raptor nest surveys along the entire corridor, coordinating with state and federal agencies to determine if the project will impact any listed plant or animal species and/or historic or cultural resources and managing sub-consultants conducting surveying, endangered species habitat assessment and archeological/cultural resource studies.  Sovereign also prepared and processed flood hazard, freshwater wetlands, and coastal wetlands permits with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for the construction of 125 new utility poles and the installation of new optical ground wire (OPGW) to improve electrical service reliability.
