Bill Walker, Ph. D., to Open Sovereign’s First Pacific Northwestern Office

Sovereign is pleased to announce that Bill Walker, Ph. D. has joined as Senior Geochemist and Office Manager for Sovereign’s new Seattle, WA branch office. Dr. Walker earned his Ph. D. in Geochemistry / Soil Chemistry from University of California—Davis, his M. S. in Chemistry from University of Minnesota, and his B. A. in Chemistry from St. Louis University.

Bill has more than 25 years of experience in soil chemistry, geochemistry, and isotope chemistry. His primary expertise is in the application of analytical methods for use in the chemical manufacturing, mining, oil, and railroad industries. His work received recognition from the California Governor's Environmental Leadership Award Program for the cleanup and closure of the Spenceville Copper Mine located in Nevada County, California.

Bill has worked extensively with metal cycling in the environment and conducted numerous studies on pesticides, metals, radiogenic and stable isotopes, and chlorinated organics. He has completed numerous projects related to chemical fate and transport in soils and sediments in support of litigation and risk assessments, as well as several water quality, mining, and smelting projects. Additionally, Bill has experience in designing and performing bench-scale testing for treatment of heavy metal, pesticide, petroleum, and radiological constituents in water and soil by oxidation, zero-valent iron, and other innovative technologies.

Prior to Sovereign, Bill served as an independent consultant as well as President of Walker & Associates. At Sovereign, Bill will develop future opportunities in the mining and chemical manufacturing industries and lead operations at Sovereign’s Seattle, WA office. “We are very excited to bring Bill on board and open our first Pacific Northwestern office.
